Goblins

Goblins are the remnants of the Wee Folk, gnomes, dwarves, pixies, driads, etc. Contact with humanity has long since tainted them. While a few goblins live in remote and isolated locations, many more are proud to live in cities, disdainful of their ancestor’s “dancing in dew circles” past. Others are content to cause mischief in suburban neighborhoods, behaving as they always have while the human population increases around them.

Goblins are attributed with various (sometimes conflicting) abilities, temperaments and appearances depending on the story and country of origin. This is because they are born to varied Castes and train to join various Guilds. They are usually small, the tallest just under 5 feet tall, the shortest just over 2 feet. Goblins craft various tokens which allow them to move unnoticed among humanity. The most common are shape-shifting and invisibility, though many goblins can pass for little people.

For their entire history, goblins have been viewed as little more than animals at best and vermin at worst. In recent years, their ability to pass for human in an increasingly politically correct human world has opened the doors of education and industry. Some goblins have been masking their tokens as cutting edge experimental technology. Others have begun making their mark in business and politics. Some say a renaissance is beginning. Others call it a goblin revolution.
